4-Day Cornwall, Devon & Stonehenge Tour Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Exmoor National Park & Tintagel Castle

Departing Bristol early in the morning, you head into England's south-west. Along the way, you'll pass through charming villages and enjoy a scenic journey through Exmoor National Park, a stunning landscape of moorland, woodland, rivers, and coastline. We stop in Dunster, a medieval village overlooked by its impressive Norman Castle, which you can admire as you wander through the streets.

We'll also pause in one of these beautiful hilltop villages, where you'll have free time for lunch. Next, you visit the dramatic ruins of Tintagel Castle. Perched high on the clifftops of North Cornwall, this remarkable 13th-century site is said to be the birthplace of King Arthur. You'll have time to explore this extraordinary location and discover its strong links to the Arthurian Legend.

Please note that due to its rugged coastal location, Tintagel Castle is accessible only on foot. The walk includes steep steps, sloping paths, sheer drops, and uneven ground, which may be challenging for some visitors. We then leave Tintagel and travel on to the coastal town of Falmouth, our base for the next two nights.

  2. Day 2

St Ives, Land's End and St Michael's Mount

The day begins in one of Cornwall's most beloved spots: the fishing town of St Ives. Famous for its lively arts scene, it's defined by golden beaches, winding cobbled streets, and classic fishermen's cottages. You'll have the morning to wander the busy seafront and visit the local galleries.

Next is a true highlight. Land's End is a place of legend, inspiring visitors since ancient Greek times, when it was called Belerion, the "Place of the Sun." For that iconic viewpoint and postcard-perfect photo, this is the moment. Afterwards, enjoy free time for lunch in one of the most unusual locations you'll ever experience: an open-air theatre set high on dramatic cliffs. Welcome to the extraordinary Minack Theatre. Please note that due to availability, we may be unable to visit this theatre — your driver-guide will let you know as you go.

The final stop is Marazion, where you'll have the opportunity to photograph the stunning St Michael's Mount. This rocky island, topped with a medieval church and castle, is often described as England's own Mont Saint-Michel. This evening, you return to Falmouth with free time to unwind and reflect on the day's unforgettable moments.

  3. Day 3

    Dartmoor National Park & Exeter

This morning, we keep plans loose, with possible stops as we begin heading north once more. You might come across a waterfall. Maybe a stone circle. There's no telling what discoveries lie ahead.

You'll then reach Tavistock, a historic stannary town and long-standing market hub. Enjoy time at leisure in the only town in Devon to hold World Heritage status. Tavistock is often described as the starting point of the west Devon and Cornwall mining landscape, earning its title as the 'eastern gateway' to this World Heritage Site. There's free time for lunch and wandering — and yes, this is the birthplace of the cream tea.

From here, the journey continues east into Dartmoor National Park, a striking, untamed landscape of woodland, rivers, wetlands and tors. You'll pause in the postcard-perfect village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. The day's final stop is at the dramatic granite rocks of Haytor, one of Dartmoor's most iconic and breathtaking landmarks, before heading on to Exeter for the night.

  4. Day 4

    Durdle Door & Stonehenge

On the final morning of your tour, you'll follow the sweeping Jurassic Coast. If seaside scenery is your thing, today promises unforgettable moments. Discover iconic spots like Durdle Door, one of Dorset's most photographed landmarks, and soak in the unique charm of Lulworth Cove.

From there, you travel onward to the legendary and awe-inspiring Stonehenge. Rising from the landscape for almost 5,000 years, it continues to captivate visitors with wonder and intrigue. Myths and legends swirl around these immense stones and their mysterious arrangement. Some suggest extraterrestrial origins, while others attribute their creation to figures such as the wizard Merlin. Whatever you believe, the experience is sure to leave you spellbound.

Your adventure comes to an end with a picturesque drive back toward Bristol, arriving later that evening.

What's Included

Accommodation
  • 3 nights en-suite accommodation with breakfast
  • What should I expect from a B&B?
B&Bs are traditionally small family owned and run properties offering a handful of guest rooms. They are usually residential properties, so they tend to be located on the outskirts of towns and you should be prepared for a 20–30 minute walk to local facilities like pubs and restaurants.
It's unusual for a B&B to offer any additional services like concierge, porterage, evening meals or room-service. Wi-fi is usually, but not always available and it's worth bearing in mind that access can be unreliable in more remote locations.
If you have difficulty with stairs, please request a ground-floor room (subject to availability, upon request only) as lifts will not be available in this type of property.
